The Fifth Industrial Revolution: A Human‑Centered Approach to Artificial Intelligence – Implications for Higher Education and Ethical Governance

SKRC’s Swedish Dialogue welcomes Professor Rami Al‑Hadeethi for a landmark lecture on the future of AI, education, and responsible innovation.

At the Swedish Knowledge and Research Centre (SKRC), we believe that the most meaningful progress happens when deep expertise meets open dialogue. Through our Swedish Dialogue Forum series, we create a space where leading researchers, engineers, and innovators from Sweden, Europe, the MENA region, the GCC, and Africa come together to address pressing global challenges.

It is therefore our privilege to announce an upcoming guest lecture by Professor Dr. Rami Hikmat Al-Hadeethi – an internationally acclaimed scholar whose distinguished career has advanced engineering education, academic leadership, and international collaboration across the United Kingdom, Europe, and the Middle East.

A Distinguished Career of Academic Leadership and Innovation

Professor Rami Al-Hadeethi is an internationally recognized scholar, educator, and academic leader whose distinguished career spans more than three decades across the United Kingdom, Europe, and the Middle East. Holding a PhD in Industrial Technology and Production Management from the University of Bradford and an MSc in Industrial Engineering and Production Management from Cranfield University, he has dedicated his professional life to advancing industrial engineering, operations management, quality systems, and innovation in higher education.

His contributions extend far beyond teaching and research. Professor Al-Hadeethi pioneered Jordan's first MSc program in Maintenance Management, establishing a benchmark for postgraduate education in engineering management, asset optimization, and operational excellence.

This accomplishment complemented his earlier role in founding Iraq's first MSc program in Industrial Management and reflects his enduring commitment to developing innovative, industry-focused academic programs that address evolving economic and technological needs. He has also played a pivotal role in establishing academic departments, shaping institutional strategy, and strengthening engineering education across the region.

Today, Professor Al-Hadeethi continues to advance international collaboration and academic excellence through his roles as Honorary Visiting Professor at the University of Bradford, Academic Director of UK International Foundation Programmes in Iraq, and Industrial Engineering Thematic Leader for the IEEE Education Society (UK and Ireland Section).

His scholarly contributions include more than seventy peer-reviewed publications, including over thirty indexed in Scopus, together with three academic books and extensive contributions as a keynote speaker, editor, reviewer, and adviser to universities and professional organisations worldwide.

A Lecture That Addresses Our Most Urgent Questions

On 7 June 2026 at 19:00 Sweden time (CEST), Professor Al‑Hadeethi will deliver a lecture titled:
The Fifth Industrial Revolution: A Human‑Centered Approach to Artificial Intelligence – Implications for Higher Education and Ethical Governance.”
Industry 5.0 represents a fundamental shift in how societies harness technology, placing human well-being, resilience, sustainability, and ethical responsibility at the centre of innovation. In this timely presentation, Professor Al‑Hadeethi will explore what a genuinely human‑centered AI means for how we teach, how we lead, and how we govern emerging technologies.

He will address critical questions that every researcher, engineer, and policy‑maker faces today:
  • How can higher education adapt to produce graduates who understand not only algorithms but also ethics, empathy, and societal impact?
  • What governance frameworks are needed to ensure that artificial intelligence serves humanity rather than displaces it?
  • How can institutions across Sweden, Europe, the MENA region, and Africa collaborate to shape a responsible digital future?
Drawing on decades of international academic leadership and partnership development, Professor Al-Hadeethi offers a uniquely global perspective that bridges higher education, industry, and research across the United Kingdom, Europe, and the Middle East.

As Honorary Visiting Professor at the University of Bradford, he has played a pivotal role in fostering international collaboration, including establishing and coordinating the strategic partnership between the University of Bradford and Mount Union University in the United States, as well as facilitating academic links between UK universities and institutions across Jordan, Iraq, and the wider region.

His insights are grounded in both scholarly excellence and practical impact. Beyond leading international research initiatives—including work on the application of Six Sigma methodologies within emerging 6G technologies—he has advised universities on strategic development, contributed to accreditation and quality enhancement initiatives, supported the creation of transnational education programs, and delivered professional training and keynote addresses worldwide.

Through these activities, Professor Al-Hadeethi has become a recognized advocate for international academic cooperation, innovation in higher education, and the responsible application of technology to address global challenges.

Having worked extensively across diverse educational, industrial, and cultural environments, Professor Al-Hadeethi brings a rare perspective on how artificial intelligence can be developed and governed in ways that enhance human capability while preserving ethical and societal values.

SKRC’s Commitment to Facilitating Knowledge

The Swedish Dialogue, operated and managed by SKRC, exists precisely to host conversations of this caliber. We provide a platform where accomplished professionals like Professor Al‑Hadeethi can share their work with a diverse, engaged audience of young engineers, researchers, and experienced academics.

By bringing together voices from the Nordic region, the MENA region, the GCC, and Africa, we foster a genuine exchange of ideas – one that transcends geographical and disciplinary boundaries.

Professor Al‑Hadeethi’s lecture is a reflection of our shared belief: that knowledge is most powerful when it is shared openly, respectfully, and with a view to inspiring the next generation. We are honored that he has accepted our invitation, and we look forward to a session that will leave every participant with new questions, new perspectives, and renewed motivation to build a more human‑centered technological future.

Join us on 7 June 2026 for what promises to be an unforgettable evening of learning and dialogue. Registration details are available on the Swedish Dialogue website.
